Consorcio Agua Azul S.A.

The object of Consorcio Agua Azul SA is construction, repair, maintenance and operation of the system that optimizes the surface and ground waters of the Rio Chillon, in order to service the expensive treatment and water delivery to the Servicio de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado de Lima (SEDAPAL) in accordance with the rights and obligations under the concession contracts.
The concession involves the uptake of surface and ground waters of the Rio Chillon River Basin, treatment and delivery to SEDAPAL for distribution to approximately 800,000 people in Northern districts of Lima (Carabayllo, Comas, Ventanilla, Ancon, Puente Piedra and Santa Rosa).
The plant produces potable water at a rate of 2.0 m3/sec, during the months of December and April, which is in rainy season, where the supply comes from surface water.
During the dry season the supply comes from groundwater, a wells grid its operated to produce 1.0 m3/sec during the months of May and November. The system includes 28 wells located along the Chillon River.
The plant main elements are:

  • Intake facility capacity of 5 m3/s
  • Raw water reservoir (2) capacity of 100,000 m3/each
  • Flocculation section
  • Sedimentation
  • Filtration
  • Potable water reservoir (2) capacity of 14,000 m3/each

The term of the concession is 27 years, beginning on April 7, 2000, owing to add to this term, 72 days product extensions as detailed in Addendum No. 3, 4 and 5 to the Concession Agreement with which the completion date of the concession will be June 18, 2027.
